Worker dies at construction site

A worker died on a construction site in the west valley Tuesday morning, a state official said.

The identity of the deceased worker was not released.

Personnel with the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, were handling the investigation.

OSHA spokeswoman Teri Williams confirmed the “workplace fatality.” She said state law prohibits her from discussing an ongoing investigation.

Las Vegas police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said the apparent accidental death occurred near Alta and Fox Hill drives.

According to Metropolitan Police Department records, officers were called to the location shortly before 9 a.m.

Meltzer said she couldn’t comment on the death other than that her agency assisted with traffic diversions.

A Las Vegas Fire Department official said firefighters were called to the area on a “medical call.” When they got to the scene, they left because Las Vegas police were handling the initial investigation.
