A woman who was walking outside of a marked crosswalk died after being hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon on the Strip.
Officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. to reports of a woman being “run over” at 101 Convention Center Drive, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Larry Hadfield said.
The 62-year-old woman was hit by a Nissan Titan traveling westbound on Convention Center Drive. She wasn’t on a marked crosswalk when the crash occurred, police said. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma unit with life-threatening injuries and pronounced dead.
Marc Dorio, 47, of Las Vegas, was driving the Nissan Titan. He wasn’t hurt, stayed on scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
The county coroner’s office will name the woman killed after her family has been notified.
This is the 100th traffic related fatality the Metropolitan Police Department has investigated in 2016.
