‘Decoy’ rider puts spotlight on bike safety law — PHOTOS

Police stopped vehicles on Wednesday following a news conference to emphasize laws designed to protect bicyclists. A "decoy" rider on the street worked with patrol officers to identify offenders.

Motorists on East Bonanza Road were watched for compliance on rules that require drivers to allow at least 3 feet on a public road.

Las Vegas police have investigated eight fatal bicycle accidents in 2015.

Representatives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Regional Transportation Commission, along with Las Vegas Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow, teamed up for the joint campaign to educate the public.
