Andrew Guba helps Spring Valley boys bowl over Cimarron in Sunset quarterfinals

Andrew Guba rolled a 268 opening game and a 722 series Tuesday to help Spring Valley’s boys bowling team to a 9-0 win over Cimarron-Memorial in the opening round of the Sunset Region team tournament at The Orleans Bowling Center.

Spring Valley had the day’s best team series with a 2,507.

The Grizzlies will face Desert Oasis, a 9-0 winner over Centennial, in the region semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bonanza was a 7-2 winner over Palo Verde, and Clark blanked Arbor View 9-0 in the other quarterfinals.

In the Sunrise Region, Liberty rolled a region-best 2,223 team series to earn a 9-0 sweep of Rancho.

The Patriots will face Eldorado, which swept Basic on Tuesday, in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Foothill was a 9-0 winner over Canyon Springs, and Coronado topped Las Vegas 7-2 in the other quarterfinals.

In Class 3A, Tech used a 2,104 team series to defeat Desert Pines 9-0 in a state quarterfinal.

The Roadrunners advance to meet Del Sol in Wednesday’s semifinals. Del Sol beat Mojave by forfeit.

Cheyenne downed Boulder City 9-0, and Chaparral blanked The Meadows 9-0 in the other state quarterfinals.
