GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: McCarthy, Basic girls roll

Megan McCarthy won a 2.4-mile race in 17 minutes, 17 seconds, and Basic runners took the top seven spots in a 15-50 win over host Del Sol.

The Dragons had only one runner complete the race.

Brittney Ciaramella was second in 17:37, followed by teammates Pagge Farewell (17:53), Bailey Gallup (18:07), and Stephanie Gutierrez (18:43).

Spartans win three-team meet

At The Meadows, Cimarron-Memorial took two of the top four spots to win a three-team meet against Bonanza and the Mustangs.

The Meadows’ Bailey Gosse dominated the 2.7-mile race, winning in 17:07, 50 seconds ahead of second-place Julianna Brooks of Cimarron.

Gabrielle Brooks was fourth in 19:47 for the Spartans, who finished with 30 points. Bonanza was second with 48, and The Meadows had 57.

Jeneke Heerema finished third in 19:16 for the Mustangs, and Bonanza’s Alexsis Chavez-Vela was fifth in 19:47

Crusaders top Desert Shields

At Faith Lutheran, Hannah Pavlov won a 3.1-mile race in 19:53 to lead the Crusaders to an 18-37 win over Cheyenne.

Faith Lutheran’s Jessica Scamman was second in 21:54, and Cheyene’s Jazmine Moore placed third in 22:04.

Foothill downs Patriots

At Liberty, Alyse Vanek won a 2.5-mile race in 16:01.4, and Foothill runners took 11 of the top 13 spots in a 21-40 win over the Patriots.

Foothill’s Raegan Janda was second in 17:14.7, and teammate Aine Jones was fifth in 18:11.1

Liberty’s Sydney Groom was third in 17:36.6 with teammate Briana Padilla fourth in 17:47.

Gators sweep top seven spots

At Legacy West Park, Lindy Eskin won a 3.1-mile race in 21:36, one second ahead of teammate Sara Braverman, as Green Valley rolled to a 15-50 win over the Rams.

The Gators took the top seven spots, as Stacie Hall finished third (22:04), Patricia Weingartner fourth (22:05) and Jenna Landman fifth (22:12).
