FLAG FOOTBALL: Twigg leads Grizzlies by Pioneers

Amberlynn Twigg threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns Monday to lead Spring Valley’s flag football team to a 25-19 win over visiting Canyon Springs.

Michaela Hood caught four passes for 137 yards and a touchdown for Spring Valley. Jozee DeCunzo caught five passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, and Normandie Kniola caught two passes for 38 yards and a touchdown for the Grizzlies.

Tea Rivera threw two touchdown passes to Amaya Youngblood, and Arielle Strong added a touchdown run for the Pioneers.

Del Sol 27, Durango 14 — At Durango, Abigail Gomez ran for two touchdowns to lead the Dragons by the Trailblazers.

Senayda Landaverde tossed a TD pass for Del Sol, and teammate Christy Patinio ran one of her two interceptions back for a touchdown.

Kiana-Capri Wilcox ran for 103 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown, on four carries for Durango. Amanda Maloney rushed for 64 yards on seven carries for the Trailblazers.

Rancho 19, Eldorado 13 — At Eldorado, Shelby O’Hanley caught a touchdown pass to help the Rams top the Sundevils.

Eldorado’s Breanna Navar had a 20-yard receiving TD, and teammate Shelby Johnson rushed for a 1-yard score.

Foothill 27, Tech 6 — At Foothill, Marissa Spatafore completed 13 of 23 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, leading the Falcons over the Roadrunners.

Spatafore also ran five times for 36 yards a touchdown.

Emily Russell added five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown for Foothill. Rakayla Tyler rushed for 121 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown, on eight carries, and Renee Ritchie also had a touchdown run for Foothill.

Legacy 32, Valley 13 — At Legacy, Akia Williams ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries to lead the Longhorns by the Vikings.

Avi’Ana Shelton added 120 yards on 15 carries, and Nicole White tossed a 21-yard TD pass to Tierra Watson for Legacy.

Palo Verde 30, Liberty 7 — At Palo Verde, Cydnee Bush ran for two first-half touchdowns as the Panthers powered past the Patriots.

Natalia Albaran rushed for a score and returned an interception for a score. Allyson Snelling also caught a touchdown pass from Alyssa Tygh.

Pualani Tuika ran for a score for the Patriots.

Las Vegas 27, Shadow Ridge 26 — At Shadow Ridge, the Wildcats nipped the Mustangs.

Michelle Dominguez rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries for Shadow Ridge.

Green Valley 25, Chaparral 0 — At Green Valley, Isabela Cipili ran for two touchdowns and passed for one more as the Gators blanked the Cowboys.

Cipili went 10-for-21 with 183 yards. Adelia Sigala caught four passes for 80 yards, and Carolina Velasquez caught two passes for 32 yards and a score.

Jinger Meiur had three catches for 52 yards for Green Valley.

Silverado 38, Sierra Vista 19 — At Sierra Vista, Nina Jensen passed for three scores to lead the Skyhawks over the Mountain Lions.

Calista Reyes rushed for 100 yards and three TDs for Sierra Vista.

Sunrise Mountain 13, Moapa Valley 6 — At Overton, the Miners topped the Eagles.

Brighton Crawford had a touchdown run for Moapa Valley.

Cheyenne 26, Desert Pines 0 — At Cheyenne, the Desert Shields blanked the Jaguars.

The Gators seized momentum midway through the second quarter and rolled to their second consecutive Class 4A state championship with a 21-0 win over Las Vegas on Thursday.

Class 4A: Deborah Grant rushes Green Valley to championship

Deborah Grant ran for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries to twice lead the Gators to a 14-13 victory over Bonanza in the Class 4A state flag football championship game on Monday.

Class 3A: Team effort lifts Del Sol to first state title

Stephanie Tewart tossed two touchdown passes to Janeth Varela to help the Dragons to a 19-6 win over the Bulldogs and the program’s first state title.

Flag Football title games postponed to Monday

The Class 4A and Class 3A state flag football championship games which were scheduled for Thursday and postponed until Friday have again been postponed after the Clark County School District canceled all classes and after-school activities for Friday. The games will be played Monday at Cimarron-Memorial.
