Roundup: Heather Robinson’s TD catch gives Valley victory

Heather Robinson caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Ashlee Bassett as the time expired on Monday to give Valley’s flag football team a 25-19 home victory over Sunrise Mountain.

It was Robinson’s third touchdown reception.

Bassett threw four touchdown passes, and Masina Brown also had one touchdown reception for the Vikings. Frida Ochoa-Uribe had eight tackles for Valley.

Moapa Valley 6, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Coy Overson caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Graceann Erickson in the third quarter to give the Pirates the win over the Rattlers.

Mojave drove into Moapa Valley territory, but Hanna Williams intercepted a pass with about 10 minutes to play to end the threat.

Palo Verde 18, Foothill 14 — At Palo Verde, Emily Allan threw two touchdown passes as the Panthers defeated the Falcons.

Palo Verde’s Mya Boykin and Kayla Scheer each had one touchdown reception, and teammate Jordan Schnitz had a rushing touchdown.

Whitley Brow had seven catches for 101 yards for Foothill.

Del Sol 32, Chaparral 14 — At Chaparral, Stpehanie Tewart threw four touchdown passes as the Dragons defeated the Cowboys.

Del Sol’s Shelby Martin had three touchdown receptions and she also recorded an interception on defense. Mariah Barajas had one rushing touchdown, and Janeth Varela intercepted a pass for the Dragons.

Durango 18, Liberty 13 — At Liberty, Tatiana Baes had 111 rushing yards and one receiving touchdown as the Trailblazers defeated the Patriots.

Durango’s Nayeli Silva-Kahalewai threw three touchdown passes, and Kamaile Kuhiiki and Gabriela Corchado each had one touchdown reception for the Trailblazers.

Boulder City 25, Western 6 — At Western, Ryann Reese rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown to lead the Eagles over the Warriors.

Reese also caught a TD pass, returned an interception for a touchdown and had six tackles.

Clark 33, Basic 18 — At Clark, Jagayra Gomes threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a score to lead the Chargers over the Wolves.

Gomes connected with Valeria Morquecho on a 32-yard scoring pass, and hit Samantha Malley for a 16-yard TD. Gomes also had a 9-yard TD run, and Jania Quinones-Teran had a pair of 1-yard TD runs for the Chargers.

Cheyenne 24, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Gorman, the Desert Shields took a 24-0 halftime lead and shut out the Gaels.

Flag Football title games postponed to Monday

The Class 4A and Class 3A state flag football championship games which were scheduled for Thursday and postponed until Friday have again been postponed after the Clark County School District canceled all classes and after-school activities for Friday. The games will be played Monday at Cimarron-Memorial.

Mountain Region: Third time charm for Bonanza against Palo Verde

The Bengals, who’d lost to Palo Verde twice this season, turned the tables on the Panthers in the Mountain Region championship game on Tuesday night. Bonanza got 116 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Charlene Beck to earn a 20-12 victory at Green Valley.

Desert Region: Gators knock off Coronado to claim championship

Deborah Grant rushed 21 times for 80 yards, and Jazlyn Camacho caught the go-ahead touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to help the Gators edge the Cougars, 13-6 for the Desert Region Championship at Green Valley.
