2017 Mojave Baseball Capsule

MOJAVE

Head coach: Daniel LaSalle, sixth season

2016 record: 16-14 (4-10 Division I-A Sunset, seventh)

Returning lettermen (starters): Eight (five)

Top players: SS/P Scotty Wilson (Sr.), C/P/CF Elijah Glaze (Sr.), LF/P Reese McClain (Sr.), 3B/P/SS Andrew Foley (Sr.), C/3B/P Mike Cianci (Fr.), 2B/P Kevin Gutierrez (So.), 1B/OF Logan Forepaugh (Fr.)

Outlook: LaSalle returns to the Rattlers’ bench after guiding the team from 2011-15.

He’ll see some new faces, but plenty of familiar ones also as the Rattlers return eight lettermen, some of whom played for LaSalle two seasons ago.

“We will be small in numbers, but large in heart,” LaSalle said. “The senior leadership will determine the success moving forward and staying injury-free will be key. Winning our league and advancing in the playoffs is our only focus. Last year means nothing as we always move forward together.”
