BASEBALL: Lachelt doubles home winning runs as Foothill edges Pioneers

Kelton Lachelt’s two-run double with no outs in the top of the eighth inning lifted Foothill’s baseball team to a 7-5 win at Canyon Springs on Saturday.

Alex Elizondo led off the eighth inning with a single and moved to third on Brayden Griffie’s double. Lachelt followed with a double to left to break a 5-5 tie.

Nathan Young was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, and Andrew Hauck went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Falcons, who were coming off an 11-inning loss to Rancho on Friday.

Johnny Flores was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Pioneers.

Las Vegas 6, Rancho 4 — At Rancho, Ryan Freimuth had three hits, and the Wildcats used a three-run seventh inning to nip the Rams.

Hector Perez had two hits and two RBIs, and Antonio Gaxiola and Trey Chauncey each added two hits for Las Vegas.

Rancho’s Zach Barnhart had a two-run single in a three-run sixth inning that tied the game at 3-3.

Basic 8, Palo Verde 4 — At Palo Verde, winning pitcher Ryne Nelson went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs as the Wolves defeated the Panthers.

David Hudleson was 2-for-4 with two runs, and Garrett Giles went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Basic.

Jaxon Hammond was 2-for-4 with a run for Palo Verde.

Liberty 6, Valley 0 — At Liberty, Justin Lutes, Michael Wong and Jordan Moreno combined on a one-hitter as the Patriots blanked the Vikings.

Lutes struck out four in two innings, and Moreno struck out three in two innings.

Omar Ortiz was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run for Liberty, which scored five runs in the fifth inning. August Reich was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs, and Jacob Rogers was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Liberty.

Bishop Gorman 9, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Austin Wells went 4-for-4 with a double to help the Gaels defeat the Diamondbacks.

Jack Little tossed a four-hitter for Gorman.

Nick Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a double, and Beau Capanna and Myles Denson each went 2-for-4 for the Gaels.

Brett Brocoff was 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis.

Boulder City 10, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Boulder City, Jake Hubel tossed a five-inning three-hitter and struck out eight as the Eagles blanked the Trojans.

Peyton Koopman went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Austin Wishard was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and teammate Alec Mathis was 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Coronado 12, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Jake Collins threw a five-inning two-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Cougars blanked the Sundevils.

Kyle Hall tripled and singled, and Dru Pippen added two hits for Coronado, which led 9-0 after two innings.
