2A ALL-STATE: Lincoln County’s Walker named player of year

Add another accolade to the postseason haul for Lincoln County boys basketball star Dantley Walker.

The junior guard recently headlined the Class 2A all-state team by being voted Most Valuable Player by coaches.

Walker averaged 32.5 points and 9.6 assists as a junior, carrying Lincoln County (25-5) to the 2A Southern League title and into the state championship game.

Walker, who also was named 2A Southern League Player of the Year, set a 2A state tournament record with 84 points in two games.

Dan Schreiber was voted Coach of the Year for guiding Incline to the state title.

First-team honors went to Incline’s Sam Witt, Michael Ceragioli and Josh Dykstra, Needles’ Michael Hills, Lincoln County’s Eric Rippetoe, Rite of Passage’s Clarence Loftin and Agassi Prep’s Quincy Brown.

The second team included Incline’s Micha Corneil, Mountain View’s Justyn Anderson, Agassi Prep’s Dimitri Amos, The Meadows’ Garrett Gosse, Rite of Passage’s Davon Menefee, Silver Stage’s Michael McDonald and Battle Mountain’s Michael Lake.
