BOYS BASKETBALL: Gaels roll to tournament title

Chase Jeter had 18 points and 12 rebounds Wednesday to lead Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team to a 71-39 win over Franklin (Ohio) in the championship game of the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Ugo Amadi added 17 points for the Gaels, who led 33-20 at halftime.

Gorman held Franklin’s Luke Kennard to 17 points. Kennard scored a total of 130 points in Franklin’s first three games in the tournament.

Desert Oasis 78, Cibola (Ariz.) 61 — At Prescott Valley, Ariz., the Diamondbacks wrapped up a 4-1 effort in the Alvarez Tire Holiday Hoops Classic with a win over the Cougars.

Federal Way (Wash.) 73, Canyon Springs 65 — At Mesa, Ariz., Vionte Daniels scored 27 points to lead the Eagles by the Pioneers in the VisitMesa.com Challenge.

D’Jimon Jones went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line and had 18 points for Federal Way, which was 25-for-32 from the line.

D’Quan Crockett had 18 points, and Jordan Davis scored 17 for the Pioneers, who got 16 points from Channel Banks.
