ROUNDUP: Ashley, Pilots soar past Wildcat boys

Brandon Ashley had 17 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals Saturday to help Findlay Prep’s basketball team to an 86-43 win over Las Vegas High at South Point Arena.
 
Winston Shepard added 15 points, and Nigel Williams-Goss supplied 10 points for the Pilots (12-0), who held leads of 31-8 after one quarter and 56-21 at the half. A running clock was used from the midway point of the third quarter on.
 
Hasaan Henderson paced the Wildcats (4-2) with 14 points and six rebounds, and teammate Juwan Major had 10 points.
 
Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 62, Needles 52 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., the host Knights used a 19-11 second-quarter spurt to pull away from the Mustangs in the championship game of the Knights Holiday Classic.
 
Lewie Larrabee had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Needles. John Ochoa added 12 points and four assists, and Aaron Burns supplied 11 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs.
 
Needles 84, Mohave (Ariz.) 69 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Ochoa led five double-figure scorers with 18 points and added seven rebounds and six steals as the Mustangs ran past the Thunderbirds and into the title game of the Knights Holiday Classic.
 
Devin Truscott had 15 points, and Burns scored 14 for Needles, which got 12 points from Michael Hills and 10 points from Larrabee.
 
Needles 53, Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 39 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Burns tallied 18 points, and the Mustangs grabbed a 35-25 halftime lead en route to a win over the Hawks in the Knights Holiday Classic.
 
Larrabee had 14 points, five rebounds and three steals for Needles.
 
Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 54, Needles 34 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., the host school downed the Mustangs in morning round-robin play in the Knights Holiday Classic.
 
Burns had 17 points and nine rebounds for Needles.
