ROUNDUP: McGriff, Clark boys win league opener

Bryan McGriff scored 28 points on Monday night to lead Clark’s boys basketball team to an 82-69 home win over Spring Valley in the Southwest League opener for both teams.

Sir Washington had 16 points, and Colby Jackson scored 15 for the Chargers, who outscored Spring Valley 20-10 in the second quarter to take a 37-28 lead.

DeShaun Nowlin had 17 points, and Shannon Nolan scored 16 for Spring Valley.

Palo Verde 58, Arbor View 51 — At Arbor View, Nahjee Matlock scored 17 points and Eris Winder 15 to lead the Panthers to a victory over the Aggies.

Though Palo Verde led 12-4 at the end of the first quarter, Arbor View battled back and took a one-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.

But the Aggies missed key free throws down the stretch, allowing the Panthers to seize momentum late.

Navonte Hill led Arbor View with 20 points, and teammate Terrell Butler sored 12.

Durango 63, Sierra Vista 49 — At Durango, Joe Tuss had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyler Watts added 14 points to lead the Trailblazers over the Mountain Lions.

Sean Williams scored 14 points to lead Sierra Vista.

Wesley Rouse had 11 points and Mike Steel 10 points for the Mountain Lions.

Bonanza 67, Pahrump Valley 30 — At Bonanza, Alex Arias had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, and the Bengals held the Trojans without a field goal for the first 19 minutes of the game en route to the win.

Marques Barnes had 14 points, and Carter Olsen and Jalen Smith each scored 10 for Bonanza, which got six assists apiece from John King and Alex Tarkanian.

Andrew White led Pahrump with eight points.

Desert Oasis 70, Western 40 — At Desert Oasis, Anthony Lianzo had 18 points, and Jordan Phillips scored 15 points as the Diamondbacks routed the Warriors.

Noah Jefferson had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Desert Oasis.

Nathan Johnson led Western with 12 points.

Cimarron-Memorial 64, Mojave 42 — At Mojave, Erik Brewer had 29 points as the Spartans topped the Rattlers.

Arin Henderson added 19 points for Cimarron, which outscored Mojave 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-20 halftime lead.

Jason Wallace had nine points to lead Mojave.

Del Sol 61, Moapa Valley 43 — At Del Sol, Max Prescott, Kyle Collins and Nate Kirschbaum each scored 11 points as the Dragons came from behind to defeat the Pirates.

Kirschbaum added 10 rebounds for Del Sol, which trailed 22-16 at the half.

Jeremy White led the Pirates with 10 points.

Basic 73, Boulder City 63 — At Boulder City, Jalen Rose had 20 points to lead the Wolves over the Eagles.

Isaiah Villaros added 11 points, and Devonte Boyd scored 10 for Basic.

Boulder City’s Nate Hafen led all scorers with 21 points, and teammate Kaleb Bailey had 18 points.

Virgin Valley 65, Tech 48 — At Mesquite, Nolan Tanner had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs topped the Roadrunners.

Dee Bowler added 14 points and six assists for Virgin Valley.

Tyler Walker led Tech with 10 points.

Sandy Valley 68, Baker (Calif.) 41 — At Sandy Valley, Ryan Hagan scored 28 points to lead the Sidewinders to the win.

Daniel Soto added 13 points, and Randal Spencer scored 10 for Sandy Valley, which outscored Baker 22-2 in the third quarter to pull away.

Oasis Christian 67, Trinity 22 — At Oasis Christian, Zane Willett had 16 points as Bulldogs marched past the Thunder.

Willett was 5-for-5 from the field and had 10 points in the third quarter as Oasis Christian pulled away.

Christian Gonzalez was 4-for-4 from the field and had 11 points, and Brandon Chamblee scored 10 for the Bulldogs.

Needles 63, River Valley (Ariz.) 55 — At River Valley, Ariz., Lewie Larrabee scored 20 points to lead the Mustangs.

John Ochoa added 13 points, and Michael Hills had 11 points and seven assists for Needles.
