2016 All-State Girls Basketball Teams

First Team

Mallory McGwire, Reno (6-4, C)

The senior was the Northern Region co-player of the year. McGwire averaged 15.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.9 blocks. She has signed to play at Oregon.

Raychel Stanley, Bishop Gorman (6-2, C)

The senior was a first-team All-Southwest League selection. Stanley averaged 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds. She has signed to play atLoyola Marymount.

Bailey Thomas, Centennial (5-9, G)

The senior was a first-team All-Northwest League selection. Thomas averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists inhelping the Bulldogs to the Division I state title. She has signed to play at West Virginia.

Samantha Thomas, Centennial (6-0, F/G)

The junior was the Player of the Year in the Northwest League. Thomas, who scored 29 points in the state semifinals, averaged 15.0points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists.

Taylor Turney, Liberty (5-8, G)

The senior was the co-Most Valuable Player of the Northeast League. Turney averaged 16.6 points, 5.0 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0steals. She has signed to play at San Jose State.

Madison Washington, Bishop Gorman (6-2, F)

The senior was the co-Most Valuable Player of the Southwest League. Washington averaged 12.2 points and 8.0 rebounds. She hassigned to play at Oregon State.

Second Team

Essence Booker, Spring Valley (5-8, G)

The sophomore was a first-team All-Southern Region selection. Booker averaged 16.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 4.1 steals.

Jayden Eggleston, Centennial (6-0, F)

The junior scored 17 points in the Division I state final, helping the Bulldogs to the state crown. Eggleston averaged 10.0 points and 8.0rebounds.

Kayla Harris, Spring Valley (5-9, G)

The sophomore was the Sunset League’s Most Valuable Player. Harris averaged 15.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 4.9 assists.

Megan Jacobs, Bishop Gorman (6-2, G/F)

The senior was the co-Most Valuable Player of the Southwest League. Jacobs averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.7steals. She has signed to play at Utah.

Katie Turner, Bishop Manogue (5-7, G)

The junior was the Northern Region co-player of the year. Turner averaged 17.9 points, 4.2 steals, 3.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds.

Pam Wilmore, Centennial (5-6, G)

The junior had 21 points in the Division I state final, keying the Bulldogs’ victory. Wilmore averaged 9.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 reboundsand 3.0 steals.

Third Team

Sam Caruth, Faith Lutheran (5-8, G)

The senior was a first-team All-Southern Region selection and scored 28 points in the Crusaders’ Division I-A state final victory. Caruthaveraged 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. She made 101 3-pointers.

Justice Ethridge, Centennial (5-6, G)

The sophomore was a first-team All-Northwest League selection. Ethridge averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals.

Daranda Hinkey, Reno (5-6, G)

The senior was a first-team All-Northern Region pick. Hinkey averaged 12.6 points, 3.1 assists and 2.8 steals. She made 84 3-pointers.

Malia Holt, Bishop Manogue (5-8, G)

The junior was a first-team All-Northern Region pick. Holt averaged 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists.

Celine Quintino, Liberty (5-6, G)

The junior was a first-team All-Northeast League selection. Quintino averaged 6.6 points, 6.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 3.0 steals.

Alexia Thrower, Canyon Springs (5-8, F)

The senior was the co-Most Valuable Player of the Northeast League. Thrower averaged 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Coach of the Year

Karen Weitz, Centennial

The 17th-year coach led the Bulldogs to a 31-1 overall record, the team’s eighth state title and a No. 4 national ranking by USA Today.Centennial defeated four nationally ranked opponents.
