GIRLS BASKETBALL: Smith helps Spartans down Valley

Niara Smith had 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals Wednesday to help Cimarron-Memorial's girls basketball team to a 63-43 win over visiting Valley.

Tasia Moore scored 19 points, and Amoura Whitney added 12 points for the Spartans, who outscored Valley 36-23 in the second half.

Jezuel Pollins led the Vikings with 12 points, and teammate Yasmine Rogers had 10 points.

Sierra Vista 40, Pahrump Valley 27 — At Sierra Vista, Shania Harper tallied 14 points as the Mountain Lions defeated the Trojans.

Danielle Morrow added 10 points for Sierra Vista, which trailed 11-6 after one quarter but led 18-15 at halftime.

Jill Smith and Andi Bishop each scored seven points for Pahrump.

Arbor View 40, Basic 31 — At Basic, Autumn Westmoreland scored 12 points to help the Aggies get past the Wolves.

Caroline Rivera-Cervantes added nine points for Arbor View.

Tajza Eddings led Basic with eight points.

Eldorado 40, Bonanza 32 — At Eldorado, Daria Lomasney scored 11 points to help the Sundevils hold off the Bengals.

DeAsia Walker added 10 points for Eldorado, which led 10-1 after one quarter.

Jazzmon Ferguson led Bonanza with 11 points.

Needles 60, The Meadows 26 — At Needles, Calif., Paige Murch scored 17 points to lead Needles by The Meadows.

Tahsin Najmi and Rachel Siegel each scored eight points, and Marcella Peek had 13 rebounds for The Meadows.

Laughlin JV 25, Indian Springs 17 — At Indian Springs, the Cougars junior varsity outscored the Thunderbirds 13-1 in the fourth quarter to get the victory.

Sevanna Morgando led Indian Springs with eight points.
