Roundup: Ellie Howard leads Eagles past Sunrise Mountain

Ellie Howard had 18 points and 10 rebounds on Tuesday to lead host Boulder City to a 45-32 win over Sunrise Mountain’s girls basketball team.

Howard scored 10 points during an 18-3 second-quarter run that allowed the Eagles to take a 28-13 halftime lead. Keely Alexander added 10 points for Boulder City.

Aiyana Ramirez led the Miners with 14 points.

Moapa Valley 67, Chaparral 32 — At Chaparral, Kaitlyn Anderson scored 20 points to help the Pirates rout the Cowboys.

Lainey Cornwall added 18 points for Moapa Valley, which led 33-13 at the half.

Emani White scored 17 points for Chaparral.

Virgin Valley 46, Sky Pointe 25 — At Sky Pointe, Alexis Boatright scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs by the Eagles.

Kate Baltazar added eight points for Virgin Valley, which outscored Sky Pointe, 28-4 in the middle quarters.

Jayden Sanders led Sky Pointe with nine points.

NIAA to re-evaluate rule allowing appeals of forfeits

The association’s board of control voted Wednesday to have staff write a proposal and survey member schools to possibly strike the ability for teams that use an ineligible to appeal any forfeits.
