ROUNDUP: Foothill girls overwhelmed in tourney opener

Bri Higgins had 10 points and 10 rebounds Monday, but Foothill’s girls basketball team dropped a 63-42 decision to Etiwanda (Calif.) in the opening round of the Orange County Championship in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Christina Nash added eight points for the Falcons, who got four blocked shots from Taylor Collins.

The Eagles, who start 6-foot-4-inch and 6-3 posts and a 6-0 point guard, led 32-21 at the half and forced 28 turnovers.

Arlington (Calif.) 54, Legacy 32 — At Ontario, Calif., Roberta Warren had nine points and eight rebounds, but the Longhorns fell to Arlington in the opening round of the West Coast Holiday Festival.

NIAA to re-evaluate rule allowing appeals of forfeits

The association’s board of control voted Wednesday to have staff write a proposal and survey member schools to possibly strike the ability for teams that use an ineligible to appeal any forfeits.
