ROUNDUP: Gator girls rally into Monsoon Classic semifinals

Green Valley used a 7-0 run that ended with 90 seconds left Thursday to earn a 59-58 win over Sierra Linda (Ariz.) to advance to the semifinals of the Monsoon Classic in Surprise, Ariz.

Angelica Mack had 18 points and eight rebounds for Green Valley, which trailed 31-29 at halftime.

Jill Harland added 12 points, and Marissa Iwanylo scored 10 for Green Valley.

The Gators play tournament host Valley Vista (Ariz.) in a semifinal at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Green Valley 49, Cactus Shadow (Ariz.) 23 — At Surprise, Ariz., Mack had 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Gators cruised past the Falcons in a pool game at the Monsoon Classic.

Harlan pulled down 12 rebounds for Green Valley, which got seven points and four assists from Maggie Manwarren.

Legacy 55, Lou Dantzler (Calif.) 52 — At Norco, Calif., Markeisha Evans had 11 points and 11 rebounds — all in the second half — to help the Longhorns nip Lou Dantzler in the West Coast Holiday Festival.

Justice Akins had 13 points, four rebounds and three steals for Legacy.

Savanna (Calif.) 43, Sierra Vista 40 — At Anaheim, Calif., Melia Tadytin had 22 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Mountain Lions fell to the Rebels in the Savanna Rebels Tournament.
