Aggies overcome halftime deficit, remain tied for first in Northwest

Sixth-ranked Arbor View (6-0) overcame a 14-6 deficit with two third-quarter touchdowns, and beat visiting Shadow Ridge (2-3, 0-3) 28-14 on Friday night.

Aggies remain tied with Palo Verde for the Northwest League lead at 4-0.

Arbor View marched 80 yards on nine plays to start the second half, with Roderick Eason’s 42-yard TD on a reverse and Steve Burns’ 2-point conversion run tying the game.

After a Shadow Ridge punt, the Aggies offense moved 47 yards in seven plays, capped by a 20-yard run by Donnie Gaskin for a 21-14 lead.

Gaskin led the Aggies’ 320-yard ground attack with 148 yards on 25 carries and Eason had 61 on eight carries. Quarterback Henry Hoffend scored on a 1-yard dive and Burns supplied a 4-yard run for an insurance score.

Michael Tootle rushed for 47 yards on 10 carries for Shadow Ridge (2-3, 0-3). Josh Mullins returned a fumble 15 yards for a TD and Bryan Beaman returned a blocked field-goal attempt 93 yards for a score.
