Group effort fuels Aggies’ in win over Legacy

Some teams rely on one big offensive weapon, or at least one big-play threat.
Not Arbor View.
The sixth-ranked Aggies (5-0, 3-0 Northwest League) had four players score on runs of 35 yards or more Thursday night in a 26-7 home victory over Legacy (1-3, 1-2).
“We don’t have that go-to guy,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “There’s no one to really focus on.”
Roderick Eason scored on a 46-yard run on Arbor View’s second offensive play for a 6-0 lead, and that score lasted until the Aggies’ second drive of the third quarter.
That’s when Steve Burns took the ball around the right side for a 35-yard TD run to make it 12-0.
Legacy fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, setting up a 45-yard TD run by Donnie Gaskin with 2:25 left in the third quarter.
Fullback Christian Rodriguez scored on a 40-yard run with 2:55 to play to make it 26-0.
“They’re young, but these kids like each other, they respect each other,” Barnson said. “We don’t have a superstar. We’ve just got a group of guys that go out and do their thing.”
Rodriguez rushed for 129 yards on 20 carries to lead the Aggies, who ran for 367 yards and didn’t complete a pass. Gaskin added 112 yards on 14 carries, and Eason had 90 yards on 10 attempts.
Legacy’s touchdown came on a 60-yard pass from Jordan Pinkney to Jordan Ireland with 2:19 to play.
