It’s never too early to think playoffs in Nevada football

The Sunrise Region still has one week to go, and in the case of the Southeast League, still a lot of maneuvering that can be done for the postseason.

 

But everything else in Southern Nevada’s football postseason picture has come into focus.

In the meantime, here’s how the rest of the postseason matchups shake out.

 

The seeds: Legacy (No. 1), Palo Verde (No. 2), Cimarron (No. 3), Cheyenne (No. 4)

 

Legacy (8-0) went gate to wire to claim its first Northwest League crown, finishing one game ahead of perennial favorite Palo Verde (7-1).

 

Cimarron (6-2) might be the strongest No. 3 seed in town. Cheyenne (5-3) survived two coaching changes since the end of last year’s season to grab the final spot.

 

The seeds: Bishop Gorman (No. 1), Durango (No. 2), Desert Oasis (No. 3), Spring Valley (No. 4)

 

It’s not exactly a surprise that Gorman (8-0) ran the table in the Southwest.

 

Durango (7-1) bounced back from a 1-9 season to grab the No. 2 seed.

 

Desert Oasis (6-2) will make its first postseason appearance in its first year as a full-fledged league member.

 

Spring Valley (5-3) is the No. 4 seed.

The seeds: Moapa Valley (No. 1), Virgin Valley (No. 2), Boulder City (No. 3)

 

Moapa Valley (2-0) survived a rigorous league schedule to emerge as the No. 1 seed.

 

Virgin Valley (1-1) beat Boulder City (0-2) to grab the No. 2 seed.

 

Virgin Valley will host Boulder City on Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. That winner will travel north on Nov. 14 to take on the North’s No. 1 remaining seed.

 

Moapa Valley will host the other remaining North team on Nov. 14.

The seeds: The Meadows (No. 1), Mountain View (No. 2), Lincoln County (No. 3), Needles (No. 4)

 

The Meadows (7-0) replaced its starting quarterback this season and never missed a beat, running the table in the 2A Southern League.

 

Mountain View (6-1) is the No. 2 seed.

 

Lincoln County and Needles both finished 4-3, but the Lynx won the head-to-head meeting to claim the No. 3 seed.

Mountain View hosts Lincoln County, and The Meadows hosts Needles.

 

The two winners move into the state semifinals on Nov. 14.

 

The seeds: Pahranagat Valley (No. 1), Tonopah (No. 2), Spring Mountain (No. 3), Round Mountain (No. 4)

 

Pahranagat Valley (5-0) blows out so many teams that even officials figure they don’t need to show up. OK, that’s probably not what happened Thursday, but the Panthers never got a chance to finish 6-0 in league play because no officials were present for their game at Beatty.

 

Because the Panthers beat Tonopah (5-1) in their head-to-head meeting, there’s no need for a makeup game. Pahranagat Valley would still be the No. 1 seed and Tonopah the No. 2.

 

Spring Mountain (4-2) is the No. 3 seed, and Round Mountain (3-3) won the equivalent of a playoff eliminator against Henderson International on Thursday to get into the field.

Pahranagat Valley hosts Round Mountain, and Tonopah hosts Spring Mountain.

 

The two winners move into the state semifinals on Nov. 14.
