Moapa Valley wins defensive battle with Sunrise Mountain

Leo Rios scored on a 24-yard touchdown with 2:25 left to help the host Moapa Valley topple Sunrise Mountain on Friday, 13-12.

Moapa Valley quarterback Daxton Longman completed 12 of 17 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Derek Reese had 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Both teams scored in the first and fourth quarters, but the game came down to extra points. The Pirates connected on their first-quarter PAT, and it was the only converted extra point in the game’s four touchdowns.
