ROUNDUP: Freshman Clark leads Lions to season-opening rout of Nighthawks

Freshman quarterback Riley Clark tossed five touchdown passes Saturday, and Calvary Chapel’s football team forced 11 turnovers on its way to a season-opening 50-6 win at Silver Stage in Silver Springs.

Bobby Buist hauled in four TD passes, and A.J. Davis added two rushing scores and caught a touchdown pass for the Lions.

Mountain View wins by forfeit

Mountain View improved to 1-0 without having to step on the field Saturday.

The Saints were set to travel to Zephyr Cove to open the season against Whittell, but the Warriors declined to play after suffering injuries in a scrimmage last weekend.

By National Federation of High School rules, Mountain View wins the game, 1-0.

Mountain View football to play as independent, likely headed to Class 1A

The Saints, who have struggled in recent years to even fill out a team, were granted independent status in football for the 2019 season at Thursday’s Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association board of control meeting at Palace Station.
