BASEBALL: Odell’s hit lifts Miners by Del Sol in nine innings

Arianna Odell’s two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Sunrise Mountain’s softball team to an 8-7 win over visiting Del Sol on Wednesday.

Odell finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Miners, who trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the third inning.

Areionna Herrera was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Selena Martinez was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Sunrise Mountain.

Andrea Garner allowed eight hits and struck out 19 in nine innings for the Miners.

Alina Marruffo went 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored for Del Sol.

Green Valley 6, Basic 2 — At Basic, Allie Lamb went 2-for-3 with a double and Alexa Blazek, Gennie Simington, and Jalen Jones each had a run-scoring single as the Gators downed the Wolves.

Lamb and Samantha Loving combined on a seven-hitter.

Alyssa Ferguson went 2-for-4 and drove in both runs for Basic, and teammate Sanoe Helenini was 2-for 4 with a double.

Boulder City 12, Tech 3 — At Tech, Bailey Bennett-Jordan fired a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs, and was 3-for-4 with an RBI double as the Eagles downed the Roadrunners and clinched at least a share of the Division I-A Sunrise League title.

Charlene Masterson went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs for Boulder City, and teammate Jerra Hinson finished 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run.

Julia Lopez had a two-run single for Tech.

Desert Oasis 11, Durango 7 — At Desert Oasis, Gemma Perez was 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs as the Diamondbacks outlasted the Trailblazers.

Makayla Rickard was 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, and Paisley Garcia and Meaghan McInerney each added two hits for Desert Oasis.

Kaitlyn O’Hearn was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Madisyn Conriquez was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Durango. Keely Thompson was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs for Durango.

Rancho 18, Silverado 4 — At Silverado, winning pitcher Sam Pochop was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Rams to a six-inning win over the Skyhawks.

Pochop struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings of relief for Rancho, which clinched a share of the Division I Sunrise League title.

Tiare Lee and Gianna Carosone each went 3-for-5 for the Rams, who scored nine runs in the sixth inning.

Sarah Ford was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Silverado, which got an RBI double apiece from Alessandra Ponce and Katherine Dimaya.

Coronado 17, Las Vegas 2 — At Las Vegas, Sarah Pinkston went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs as the Cougars pulled away from the Wildcats.

Dylan Underwood went 3-for-5, and Brooke Younie was 2-for-4 for Coronado, which scored all of its runs in the final five innings.

Samantha Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double for Las Vegas.

Foothill 10, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Daryan Meade went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI as the Falcons blanked the Sundevils in five innings.

Sarah Penksa tossed a three-hitter and struck out three for Foothill.

Heather Holman went 2-for-2 with a double for Eldorado.

Virgin Valley 17, Desert Pines 5 — At Mesquite, Janella Fiso went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs as the Bulldogs routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Taylor Barnum was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Savannah Price was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI for Virgin Valley.

Cassandra Bueno was 2-for-2 with two runs, and Martha Maya went 2-for-3 with two runs for Desert Pines.

Valley 22, Canyon Springs 11 — At Valley, Monique Beaudry was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as the Vikings outslugged the Pioneers in five innings.

Winning pitcher Brianna Gamboa was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and teammate Shannon Williams singled and doubled for Valley, which scored 16 runs in the third inning.

Karina Cavada had a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead Canyon Springs.
