SOFTBALL: Lawrence, Bulldogs claim Northwest title

Sonja Lawrence went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as Centennial’s softball team secured the Northwest League title with a 17-4, six-inning win at Desert Oasis on Thursday.

Stephanie Day was 2-for-5 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs, and Lina Barrera was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs an an RBI for Centennial. Jaden Tate was 2-for-6 with three RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Mary Dungey went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Diamondbacks.

Arbor View 7, Cimarron-Memorial 5 — At Arbor View, Kayla Stephens’ two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning plated the go-ahead run as the Aggies rallied by the Spartans.

Kellie Anderson was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs, and Brittany Henricksen went 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and a run for Arbor View.

Cimarron’s Cierra Davis was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Rosie Del Rosario and Carmen Hasbrouck each went 2-for-4 for the Spartans.

Coronado 4, Basic 1 — At Coronado, Taylor Okamura was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Cougars topped the Wolves.

Sophia McCann was 2-for-3 with two runs for Coronado.

Rachel Snyder was 2-for-3 for Basic.

Rancho 1, Green Valley 0 — At Rancho, Gianna Carosone’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning lifted the Rams past the Gators.

Sammi Llamas led off the fifth with a double, moved to third on Yvette Sanchez’s bunt and scored one out later on Carosone’s hit.

Samantha Pochop tossed a one-hitter for Rancho. She struck out 10 and walked one.

Sierra Vista 1, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Kalei Watkins tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven as the Mountain Lions nipped the Grizzlies.

Mikaela Ishikawa doubled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and scored the game’s only run on Adriana Somerville’s one-out single to left field.

Michaela Hood spun a two-hitter and struck out 11 for Spring Valley.

Faith Lutheran 6, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Mosie Foley tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Crusaders by the Trojans.

Samantha Jack was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Vanessa Valdez was 2-for-3 with two runs for Faith Lutheran.

Foothill 15, Eldorado 3 — At Eldorado, Sarah Maddox went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs as the Falcons topped the Sundevils in five innings.

Jasmine Dukes went 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs for Foothill.

Kerri Nasife was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Cheyenne 11, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Kaitlyn Dutton tossed a five-hitter to lead the Desert Shields by the Rattlers.

Brittny Phillips was 2-for-4 with a double, and Jonnette Paddy was 2-for-5 with a double for Cheyenne.

Emilee Mitton was 2-for-4 with a triple for Mojave.

Valley 9, Chaparral 4 — At Chaparral, Shannon Williams was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Monique Beaudry was 3-for-4 to lead the Vikings by the Cowboys.

Jaeda Burnett was 2-for-3 for Valley.

Crystal Clark went 2-for-2, and Diana Jennings was 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Western 20, Clark 4 — At Clark, Alexis Maeoki tossed a six-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 3-for-3 with two triples, a double, four RBIs and four runs as the Warriors downed the Chargers in five innings.

Lita Maeoki was 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs, and Brooklyn Artiaga and Mireya Villela each went 2-for-4 for Western.

Kyhara Evenson belted a three-run home run, and Sara King was 2-for-2 with a run for Clark.

Calvary Chapel 18-21, Lake Mead 4-5 — At Tuscany Park, Monica Mejorada went 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs in the nightcap as the Lions took two five-inning games from the Eagles.

Emily Mejorada and Justyne Boggio each went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the second game for Calvary Chapel.

Meghan Phillips was 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBIs for the Lions in the first game.

Lake Mead’s Josey White was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game and homered in the finale.

Indian Springs 18-17, Beaver Dam 3-0 — At Indian Springs, Aspen Avery tossed a pair of five-inning three-hitters as the Thunderbirds swept the Diamondbacks.

Hannah Price was 2-for-2 with a triple in the opener and 2-for-3 in the nightcap for Indian Springs.

In the second game, Caroline Stark was 3-for-3 with a triple and a double, and Hannah Thormahlen went 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple for the Thunderbirds.
