ROUNDUP: Foothill girls use depth to get past Silverado

Foothill’s girls swimming team won only four of the 12 events Saturday, but used its depth to edge Silverado, 149-136 at Heritage.

Jennifer Schulte won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 17.75 seconds, and teammates Melissa Flannery (100 breastroke in 1:22.10) and Nicole Howard (diving, 171.90 points) each pulled out a first-place finish.

Foothill’s 200 freestyle relay team also won its event.

Silverado’s Lauran Willis won both the 50 (26.04) and 100 freestyle (58.84) events, and teammate Mallory Harris took the 100 breaststroke (1:09.76) and 200 individual medley (2:16.31).

Basic 161, Liberty 78 — At Heritage, Basic won eight of the 11 contested events and had six different individuals win a race on its way to a victory over Liberty.

Liberty’s Jasmin Guo took the 100 breaststroke (1:19.51) and the 200 IM (2:41.65).

Coronado 163, Boulder City 123 — At Heritage, Nicole Mertel swept the 200 freestyle (2:02.29) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.63) to lift the Cougars past Boulder City.

Boulder City’s Megan Purdy captured the 200 IM (2:11.32) and 100 butterfly (59.84).

Palo Verde 192, Durango 81 — At Municipal, Mikayda Mills and Alexis Mayhall each won twice as the Panthers downed Durango.

Mills was the winner in the 200 freestyle (2:03.79) and 100 backstroke (1:03.59). Mayhall took the 100 breaststroke (1:13.05) and 50 freestyle (26.68).

Durango’s Jamie McDowell claimed the 200 IM (2:18.22) and 100 butterfly (1:01.15).

Green Valley 214, Tech 63 — At Mutli-Generational, Sarah McKay won the 100 backstroke (1:04.59) and 100 butterfly (1:03.84) as a part of a 12-event sweep for the Gators in their victory over Tech.

Centennial 161, Arbor View 135 — At Desert Breeze, Natalie Lipkowitz, Kristin Hepner and Mary Giza each won two events, and the Bulldogs swept the relays to get past the Aggies.

Lipkowitz won the 200 freestyle (2:10.66) and 500 freestyle (5:42.54), Hepner was first in the 50 freestyle (28.37) and 100 backstroke (1:07.16), and Giza won the 100 butterfly (1:09.89) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.37).

Bishop Gorman 182, Bonanza 109 — At Desert Breeze, the Gaels swept the relays en route to the win.

Gorman’s Meghan Boland won the 50 freestyle (28.35) and 100 freestyle (1:03.95), Lindsey Englestead took the 100 butterfly (1:03.6) and 100 backstroke (1:07.8), and Olivia Barker won the 500 freestyle (5:20.59) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.31).

Shadow Ridge 195, Cimarron-Memorial 99 — At Desert Breeze, Kimberly Bergo won the 200 individual medley (2:45.84) and 100 backstroke (1:15.24), and Sarah Miller won the 50 freestyle (25.22) and 100 butterfly (1:04.4) to lead the Mustangs past the Spartans.
Shadow Ridge also swept the relays.

Cimarron’s Anna Frerker won the 100 freestyle (1:12.38) and 100 breaststroke (1:32.72).

Legacy 119, Mojave 22 — At Desert Breeze, Siana Tuitana and Janice Conte each won two events to lead the Longhorns past the Rattlers.

Tutiana won the 200 individual medley (3:39.0) and 100 breaststroke (1:40.0), and Conte took the 50 freestyle (29.54) and 100 freestyle (1:10.0).

Desert Oasis 142, Western 50 — At Municipal, Allison Rieplinger won the 200 individual medley (2:31.79) and 100 butterfly (1:09.28) to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.

Desert Oasis also won all three relays.

Faith Lutheran 173, Clark 112 — At Municipal, Jessica Watson and Caitlin Marks won two events apiece, and the Crusaders swept the relays to down the Chargers.

Watson won the 50 freestyle (28.74) and 500 freestyle (6:06.01), and Marks was first in the 200 individual medley (2:23.22) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.81).

Canyon Springs 133, Desert Pines 12 — At Multi-Generational, Tianna Barnes won the 200 freestyle (3:10.18) and 500 freestyle (8:47.02), and Cindy Burdasch was first in the 100 freestyle (1:16.27) and 100 breaststroke (1:25.5) to lead the Pioneers past the Jaguars.

Rancho 125, Eldorado 63 — At Multi-Generational, Gabriella Nelson won the 200 freestyle (2:38.11) and Stephanie Apodaco won the 100 butterfly (1:31.27) to help the Rams cruise past the Sundevils.

Eldorado’s Jessie Grossman won the 50 freestyle (38.0) and 100 freestyle (1:20.64), and teammate Lynnette Molitor won the 500 freestyle (6:08.14) and 100 breaststroke (1:24.46).

Valley 124, Virgin Valley 68 — At Multi-Generational, the Vikings didn’t win a single event, but picked up enough points to get past the Bulldogs.

Sammy Belalacazar won the 100 butterfly (1:31.07) and 200 individual medley (3:13.4), and Katie Belalcazar added wins in the 100 freestyle (1:01.82) and 100 backstroke (1:26.57) for Virgin Valley.
