BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Edher Aldaco, Cimarron outlast Bonanza in five sets

Edher Aldaco had 42 assists and three aces Wednesday, as Cimarron-Memorial’s boys volleyball team squeaked by host Bonanza 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-9.

Erick Forbush had 14 kills and four aces for the Spartans, Jameson Valencia had nine kills, six digs and an ace, and Johnathan Mika had 15 digs and two aces.

Paolo Luchs led Bonanza with 11 kills and seven digs, and teammate Mark Thuet added 11 digs and 10 kills.

Kadin Warner had seven kills and five blocks for the Bengals, and Mataio Valoaja had five kills and four blocks.

Green Valley 3, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Brian Barkemeyer notched 40 assists, five kills, six digs and three aces to help the Gators hold off the Mountain Lions, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13.

Tanner Castro tallied 13 kills, six digs, four blocks and two aces, and Tanner Webb supplied eight kills and two blocks for Green Valley.

Chris McCoy provided 22 kills, and Chevy Eliu had 23 digs to lead Sierra Vista.

Shadow Ridge 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Tanner Franklin had 16 kills and eight digs, and Sebastian Campos added four kills and seven blocks to rally the Mustangs past the Diamondbacks, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-22.

Derek Robnett had 10 kills and eight digs, and C.J. McInnis notched 33 assists and nine digs for Shadow Ridge, which also got 14 digs from Travis Hoadley.

Colin Bracchi led Desert Oasis with five kills and two blocks.

Liam Morrissey had four kills and three blocks, Joshua Sadama had 12 assists and seven digs, and Bryson Sadama recorded three assists and 13 digs for the Diamondbacks.

Palo Verde 3, Foothill 0 — At Foothill, Haden Van Orden had 26 assists to power the Panthers to a 25-16, 25-6, 25-18 sweep of the Falcons.

Grant Tingey added nine kills and four blocks, and Scott Sloane tallied six kills and four blocks for Palo Verde.

Chandler Juilfs supplied six kills for the Panthers.

Richard Reid notched seven digs and four kills for Foothill, which got six digs and three kills from Brock Weaver.

Eldorado 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Eldorado, Tim Lawson passed out 23 assists, and Adrian Evans had seven kills and two aces to help the Sundevils top the Grizzlies 25-21, 25-12, 25-16.

Dahlton Stack added five kills for Eldorado.

Syed Husain notched 18 digs, and Joshua Hunt had 16 assists for Spring Valley.

Chaparral 3, Word of Life 1 — At Chaparral, Ronnie Hicks had nine kills, and teammate Quentin Beverly supplied seven kills to power the Cowboys to a 25-17, 9-25, 25-16, 25-14 win over the Eagles.

Cheyenne 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, E.J. Yearby served seven aces to help lead the Desert Shields to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-10 sweep of the Pioneers.

Brian Orellana tallied six kills and five aces for Cheyenne.

All-state teams to be announced in June

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.

Class 4A: Palo Verde rolls to state title

Ceci put the finishing touches on a 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 victory over the Falcons with a thunderous kill in the fifth and final set, clinching Coronado’s first region championship since 2013.

Roundup: Caleb Stearman helps Foothill into Desert final

Stearman’s sixth kill of the fifth set allowed the Falcons to complete a 20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-11 comeback and advance to both Friday’s region final and next week’s state tournament.

Roundup: Kilmor Amor helps Spartans reach Mountain semifinals

Kilmor Amor had 15 kills, 23 assists and 10 digs Wednesday to help Cimarron-Memorial’s boys volleyball team down Shadow Ridge, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Region Tournament at Palo Verde.
