ROUNDUP: Andrews helps Falcons outlast Gators

Kendell Andrews had 29 kills and 12 digs Tuesday as Foothill’s boys volleyball team edged visiting Green Valley, 15-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 15-10.

Nick Stoker dished out 36 assists, and Brandon Bly notched 17 digs for the Falcons.

Wesley Reed had 18 kills, and Donovan Santos tallied 43 assists to lead the Gators, who got 13 kills from Jake Johnson.

Tech 3, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Adan Hernandez had 10 kills and six blocks to lead the Roadrunners to a 25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 25-11 victory over the Dragons.

Edwin Lopez added 17 assists and three kills, and Omar Mena had six kills and two blocks for Tech.

Nathan Kirschbaum led Del Sol with 12 kills. Kevin Kaitschuck added 11 kills for the Dragons, who got 18 assists from Dennis Takahashi.

Palo Verde 3, Cimarron-Memorial 1— At Cimarron, Andrew Weston distributed 36 assists to go with six digs, and Jordyn Martin tallied 10 kills and 10 digs as the Panthers defeated the Spartans, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19.

Trent Gneiting spiked 15 kills, and Mitchell Pingey supplied six kills, three digs and three blocks for Palo Verde.

Taylor Larsen had 15 assists and seven digs, and teammate Devin Davis provided 17 digs for Cimarron, which also got seven kills and four digs from Braydon Egbert.

Centennial 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Austin Watts posted seven kills and five aces as the Bulldogs cruised past the Desert Shields, 25-12, 25-17, 25-10.

Cameron Hanselman and Cody Milford each recorded five kills for Centennial, and Hanselman also had three blocks.

Naenoa George paced Cheyenne with five digs and two blocks, and teammate Honorio Tovar-Garcia had two kills and four digs.

Arbor View 3, Mojave 0 — At Arbor View, Richie Garness tallied 12 assists and four blocks, and Darien Bradley added six digs and five kills as the Aggies swept the Rattlers, 25-10, 25-9, 25-10.

Garrett Rader had 14 digs, and Blake Truman supplied five kills and five assists for Arbor View.

Billy Murphy had five kills and three digs for Mojave.

Shadow Ridge 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Jalen Makaiwi registered 13 assists and eight aces to help the Mustangs sweep the Longhorns, 25-12, 25-5, 25-11.

Brandon Fisher contributed 10 kills for Shadow Ridge.

Kevin Noorda dished out nine assists, and Justin Paquin had five kills to lead Legacy.

Silverado 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Kyle Divicino spiked 14 kills, and Dakota Relle dished out 26 assists to help the Skyhawks sweep the Wolves, 25-12, 25-19, 25-14.

Hunter Witt added seven kills for Silverado.

Weston Crum had eight kills and six digs for Basic.

Coronado 3, Liberty 0 — At Coronado, Logan Dickover distributed 17 assists, and Jacob Pankey had nine kills as the Cougars routed the Patriots, 25-11, 25-10, 25-18.

Tyler Cucullu served five aces for Coronado.

Jaden Roberts and Kai Nacua each had five kills for Liberty, and teammate Sebastian Magno supplied 18 assists.

All-state teams to be announced in June

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.

Senior Scott Solan had 13 kills, six digs and three aces as the Panthers defeated Coronado 25-15, 25-19, 25-16 on Thursday to win their fifth state championship.

Desert Region: Freshman Jacob Ceci helps Cougars top Foothill

Ceci put the finishing touches on a 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 victory over the Falcons with a thunderous kill in the fifth and final set, clinching Coronado’s first region championship since 2013.
