VOLLEYBALL: Panthers overcome early hole, top Falcons

Scott Solan had 17 kills to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team to a 22-25, 25-22, 29-27, 27-25 win over visiting Foothill on Thursday.

Haden Van Orden dished out 46 assists, and Jacob Scheer had 16 digs for the Panthers.

Shilo Chow paced the Falcons with 28 assists, eight blocks, seven digs and three kills. Jonny Rolle had six kills and nine blocks, and Troy Bell added 14 digs for Foothill.

Desert Oasis 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Desert Oasis, Billy Cameron had 11 kills and four digs to help the Diamondbacks to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 win over the Desert Shields.

Joshua Sadama had 11 assists, and Colin Bracchi added five kills and three blocks for Desert Oasis.

Elijah Cocker had six kills, and Lanson Keomaka added 12 assists for Cheyenne.

Las Vegas 3, Rancho 0 — At Las Vegas, Jonathan Sosa had five kills and five digs to lead the Wildcats to a 25-20, 25-13, 25-17 win over the Rams.

Shaun Kampshoff and Foster Palo had five kills apiece, and Luis Wong dished out 29 assists for Las Vegas.

Lamont Traylor led Rancho with 16 kills and five digs.

Green Valley 3, Valley 0 — At Valley, Dustin Elliott had 15 kills, six digs and two blocks to lead the Gators past the Vikings, 25-14, 25-9, 25-15.

James Reed had 13 kills and four digs, and Tanner Casto had four kills and five blocks for the Gators.

Marty Heavey had nine kills, and Jared Marchello added seven kills for Valley.

Desert Pines 3, Western 0 — At Western, Estanislao Lansangan had eight kills, two aces, 17 assists and 10 digs to lead the Jaguars past the Warriors, 25-18, 25-18, 26-24.

Ortega Wiltz had seven kills and three aces, and Carlos Flores added nine digs and four blocks for the Jaguars.

Anthony Dodson led Western with three kills and three blocks. Gerardo Cardenas had two kills, two aces and five assists, and Christian Macias had two aces and 13 digs for the Warriors.

Bonanza 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Robby Adair put down 16 kills to lead the Bengals by the Pioneers, 25-15, 25-12, 25-11.

Bronson Duckworth added seven kills, four aces and 18 assists for Bonanza. Nathan Fales had four kills, one ace and three digs, and Tyler Simmons added two aces and 10 digs for the Bengals.

Coronado 3, Liberty 0 — At Coronado, Nik Purser had 11 kills and eight digs to help the Cougars to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-12 sweep of the Patriots.

Taylor Jones had four kills and six aces for Coronado.

All-state teams to be announced in June

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.

Class 4A: Palo Verde rolls to state title

Senior Scott Solan had 13 kills, six digs and three aces as the Panthers defeated Coronado 25-15, 25-19, 25-16 on Thursday to win their fifth state championship.
