Host Grizzlies take down Aggies to win Spring Valley Duals

Kevin Wang, Trever Siedlecki, Dan VanTassel and Rashad Waters each recorded pins to lead Spring Valley’s wrestling team to a 42-31 victory over Arbor View in the championship of the Spring Valley Duals on Saturday.
Wang (112 pounds) won in 2 minutes, 24 seconds, Siedlecki (119) claimed the fall in 1:46, VanTassel (135) pinned in 3:23, and Waters (171) got the victory in 1:51 to help the Grizzlies win the 10-team tournament in their own gym.
Ruben Rodriguez (125), Devin Poopaa (130) and Vincent Russo (152) each won by pin for the Aggies.
Pahrump Valley 64, Coronado 12 — The Trojans racked up seven pins in a rout of the Cougars to finish in third place.
Lauro Herrera (103), Sergio Rodriguez (112), Josh Harvey (135), Matt Rader (140), Lenny Steere (152), Jonathan Mitchell (171) and heavyweight Kory Daffer all recorded falls for Pahrump.

Cimarron-Memorial’s Matthew Rodgers avenged three regular-season losses to Shadow Ridge’s Marc Williams by winning 3-1 in overtime in the 160-pound division, to help the Spartans win the region championship, 231-228½.
