ROUNDUP: Host Grizzlies win Spring Valley Duals

Spring Valley’s wrestling team dominated Basic in the middle weight classes Saturday en route to a 54-24 win in the championship match of its own Spring Valley Duals.
Basic won at the three lightest weights and at 285 pounds, but the Grizzlies took the other 10 matches — six by pin and two by forfeit.
Dan Van Tassel won his match at 130 pounds by pin in 1 minute, 54 seconds. Also winning by pin for the Grizzlies were: Naweed Najand (135), Rodrigo Santos (140), Ray Waters (145), Erik Lopez (171) and Kevin Bodda (215).
Liberty took third in the event, followed by Foothill, Arbor View, Eldorado, Mohave (Ariz.) and Bishop Gorman.

Cimarron-Memorial’s Matthew Rodgers avenged three regular-season losses to Shadow Ridge’s Marc Williams by winning 3-1 in overtime in the 160-pound division, to help the Spartans win the region championship, 231-228½.
