A 20,000-square-foot palace on the low-tax Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is No. 2 on Forbes magazine’s Top 10 list of America’s most expensive homes.
The 210-acre “Tranquility” property, owned by Tommy Hilfiger clothing brand cofounder Joel Horowitz, is listed for $100 million.
The main house is modeled after a Northern European mountain home. It has a 3,500-bottle wine cellar, indoor swimming pool and atrium, and 19-seat movie theater to ensure constant entertainment, even if you’re snowed in.
It’s second to the $125 million Fleur de Lys mansion in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The homes range from Manhattan townhouses to Colorado chalets and if you’ve got the the cash, there’s a good chance you can pick them up for a sharp discount, the magazine reported.
“As the broader market has crashed, so too has the highest end of the real estate market,” Forbes said. “Asking prices are down by as much as $50 million, and little is selling.”
