21-year-old sentenced to prison for killing father

A 21-year-old Henderson man has been sentenced to 5½ to 15 years in prison for killing his father during an argument at their home in Henderson.

A court official says Frank Henry Nichols III was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in October to voluntary manslaughter with use of a deadly weapon in the death of 58-year-old Frank Henry Nichols Jr.

The Clark County coroner says the father bled to death July 2 at the home near Stephanie Street and Patrick Lane.

The son was treated at a hospital for minor injuries after calling 911 and telling detectives that an intruder attacked his father.

He later admitted he was responsible for the stabbing.
