Two men suspected in the Tuesday evening shooting of a man during a robbery attempt that led to a car chase with police and a crash with a tour bus were detained for questioning, Las Vegas police said.
Lt. Clint Nichols said the attempted street robbery occurred about 6 p.m. near Charleston and Decatur boulevards. He said police were alerted to a man who was shot in the area. Plainclothes detectives in the area saw a car speed off near the shooting.
Shortly after, Nichols said, police were made aware that the car detectives saw was the suspects’ vehicle.
Nichols said police caught up to the vehicle, and at some point, one of the suspects got out of the car while police were in pursuit. The suspect was taken into custody.
The second suspect continued driving and led police on a chase, which ended in the southeast valley near Pecos Road and Patrick Lane, where the suspect crashed into a tour bus carrying 19 people.
Nobody on the bus was hurt. The suspect also escaped injury and was detained. Nichols said both suspects probably will face arrest and attempted murder charges. Police did not release the names of the suspects.
Nichols said the victim of the attempted robbery was hospitalized with a “flesh wound” and is expected to survive.
