Accidental deaths and suicide claimed the lives of more children last year than in 2006, though the number of child murders fell slightly, according to report released today.
A Clark County research team compiled a child-fatality report for 2007 based on 155 cases, or about 57 percent of child deaths reported that year.
Sixty-six children suffered accidental deaths, up from 53 in 2006. Twelve youths committed suicide, surpassing nine the previous year.
One bright spot was that child homicides dropped to 15 from 20 reported the year before.
