All-Democratic Clark County Commission sworn in

The Clark County Commission is all-Democratic for the first time in 40 years.

Two Democratic newcomers and two incumbents were sworn in today, creating the first all-Democratic commission since 1969. This is also the first board with all Democrats since it was expanded to seven members in the late 1980s.

Steve Sisolak, a former regent, and Larry Brown, former Las Vegas City Councilman, began their first term today. Commissioners Tom Collins and Lawrence Weekly were re-elected in November.

Two Republicans are now out of office. Bruce Woodbury, who served 28 years, was barred from seeking re-election because of term limits. Chip Maxfield, an eight-year incumbent, chose not to run again.
