Arizona man falls to his death while out walking his dogs

A northwest Arizona resident out for a walk with his dogs Wednesday night was fatally injured when he fell from a cliff less than a mile from his home in the community of Scenic, about 100 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

The Mohave County Sheriff's office identified the victim as 68-year-old Larry Blaire Austin.

His wife notified authorities at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday when their three dogs returned home without Austin, sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said.

Search and Rescue personnel located Austin about 11 p.m., about 60 feet below the edge of a cliff, Carter said.

Austin was dead at the scene. Foul play is not suspected.
