Arrest made in December fatal shooting of Las Vegas man

A man was arrested Monday in connection with a December fatal shooting in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

Police say the killing was drug related, and they’re still looking for another man in the case. Before Tuesday, police had called the killing a home invasion.

Jessie Charles Washington, 44, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder with the use of a deadly weapon and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. He is charged in the death of Anthony Wayne Walker, 27, in his home in the 6600 block of Evening Rain Avenue.

A police report said Walker was selling marijuana. Police said they linked Washington to the killing after a witness told them she had overheard Walker’s conversation with a man named “Jessie” and told police his number would be in Walker’s phone.

After getting the phone through a search warrant, police linked the contact listed as “Jessie” with Jessie Charles Washington, who was already in their records as using that phone number. Police said Washington’s criminal record includes murder with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with more information about Walker’s death should call the Metropolitan Police Department homicide section at 702-828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-355-5555 or online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com
