Battle Born Media LLC acquires Mesquite Local News from Stephens Media LLC

Battle Born Media LLC has acquired the Mesquite Local News weekly newspaper and its accompanying website from Stephens Media LLC.

Terms were not disclosed.

Battle Born Media, headed by Sherman Frederick and Tim Dahlberg, also owns the Lincoln County Record, The Ely Times, Eureka Sentinel and Mineral County Independent-News.

“Mesquite is a wonderful town with no shortage of news,” Frederick said. “It fits in nicely with our other newspapers and our style of providing uncompromising community news in rural Nevada. We’re looking forward to becoming a vital part of the region and its communities.”

Frederick, former president of Stephens Media and long-time publisher of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, will play an active role on the editorial page of Mesquite Local News along with columnist Tom Mitchell. Mitchell writes a weekly column for all Battle Born Media newspapers about rural Nevada issues.

Kirk Kern, chief operating officer of Battle Born Media, will serve as publisher of Mesquite Local News. To communicate directly with Kern, persons may call 775-316-2335 or email bbm.kirk@gmail.com. You may also reach Frederick at shermfrederick@gmail.com.
