Bicyclist critically injured after being hit by car on Strip

A bicyclist was critically injured after a car struck him on the Strip on Monday morning, Metro said.

Matthew Hunt, 37, of Las Vegas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. No one else was injured.

The crash happened about 8 a.m. Monday in the 3300 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, near Spring Mountain Road, Metro said.

Two bicyclists were on the road when a 1998 Ford Mustang driven by a 23-year-old Las Vegas woman struck Hunt, Metro said. The woman stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. Police did not say whether the driver had been cited.

Southbound lanes were closed about five hours, according to the Regional Transportation Commission.
