Charlotte was the far superior team in the second half, as it pulled away for an 81-66 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Jermareo Davidson had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Bobcats. D.J. Augustin was impressive in his debut with 14 points.
Al Thornton had a game-high 22 points for Los Angeles. Former UNR star Nick Fazekas had six points and five rebounds. San Diego State product Brandon Heath had just one point in 14 minutes for the Clippers. First-round draft pick Eric Gordon had 15 points but left the game in the second half with a strained left hamstring. No word yet on the severity, but he did not return to action.
Quentin Richardson of the New York Knicks made an appearance at the game, perhaps to watch the team that selected him in the first round of the 2000 draft, the Clippers.
