Coroner’s office identifies woman found strangled in SUV

The woman found strangled last week inside a sport utility vehicle in a southwest valley neighborhood was identified as 29-year-old Sherryl Guevarra-Sacueza by the Clark County coroner’s office Monday.

The incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 6700 block of Mangrum Circle, near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway.

Las Vegas police said witnesses saw the woman beaten by 32-year-old Jesus Munguia, who was identified as a current or ex-boyfriend of Guevarra-Sacueza.

Munguia was seen fleeing in a white Honda Civic.

Police could not be reached Monday to comment on whether Munguia had been arrested in connection with the slaying.

Munguia is accused by police of hitting Guevarra-Sacueza in the head with a weapon and strangling her.

Police said the sport utility vehicle did not belong to her but was parked in her driveway. Neighbors said they heard loud screams during the attack.

Police said if Munguia is arrested, he will face the recommended charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Metropolitan Police Department at 828-3521.
