Description released of suspect in fatal shooting

Las Vegas police on Sunday released a description of a suspect who fled after fatally shooting a man and injuring a woman Saturday as they were taking out trash at an apartment complex.

The shooting occurred at 1:08 p.m. at the Evergreen Apartments, 5400 W. Cheyenne Ave., near Michael Way.

Police said a man died after being shot multiple times. A woman was shot in the lower leg but is expected to recover.

The shooting occurred after the victims were confronted by two men. The suspects and victims had argued prior to the shooting, police said.

The shooter is described as a heavyset black man who stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and is between the ages of 23 and 24. He was last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and white T-shirt. He and another black man were seen fleeing in either a silver or white small vehicle.

The identity of the man who died has not been released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
