It’s election time for 2nd Congressional District candidates Mark Amodei and Kate Marshall.
Early voting in the special election opens today and runs through Sept. 9.
Election day is Sept. 13.
Amodei, former chairman for the Nevada Republican Party, served two years as an assemblyman and 12 years as a state senator before being termed out after the 2009 session.
Marshall, a Democrat, has served as state treasurer since 2006.
The other candidates are Timothy Fasano of the Independent American Party and independent Helmuth Lehmann.
The 2nd Congressional District covers all of Nevada except urban areas of Clark County. The seat was vacated when Dean Heller, R-Nev., filled the state’s U.S. Senate seat after John Ensign resigned amid ethics investigations following his affair with a campaign aide.
