Associate superintendent to take top job in Utah district

A Las Vegas school administrator has been picked to head a Utah school district near Salt Lake City.

The Clark County School District announced that Associate Superintendent Patrice "Patsi" Johnson is leaving to become superintendent of the Jordan School District on June 1.

She replaces retired Superintendent Barry Newbold in the district, which has 52 schools and about 50,000 students.

Johnson began in 1992 as a teacher in the Clark County district. She also was a principal before becoming associate superintendent in 2009.

Johnson has degrees from Brigham Young University and Fresno Pacific College, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and public school administration from the University of Southern California.
