Back to school is around the corner and new backpacks, school supplies and school uniforms are needed for children in the care of Clark County’s Department of Family Services.
People interested in participating can donate at Peggy’s Attic, 701 N. Pecos Road, at Mojave Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Aug. 10.
“We’re encouraging the community to step up again this school year and to become a champion for children in our care,” Family Services’ director Tim Burch said. “The beginning of the school year is an important time for children. We need our community to come together to support our children, their education and the quality foster families that ensure their well-being.”
This year’s goal is to get donations for 1,500 backpacks filled with materials and distribute them Aug. 12 at the Juvenile Justice gymnasium.
The first day of school for the Clark County School District is Aug. 29.
