Organization honors CCSD’s Skorkowsky as National Superintendent of the Year

The Jobs for America's Graduates, or JAG, a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk youth transition from high school to college or the workplace, last week named Clark County Schools Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky as its National Superintendent of the Year.

The JAG national board of directors recognized Skorkowsky with the award at a Dec. 3 event in Washington, D.C., according to a news release.

The Nevada arm of the national group currently operates its program in 19 schools in the Clark County School District. JAG-Nevada serves 689 students in 37 schools across Nevada, the release reads.

"Skorkowsky committed to the JAG program after seeing a successful pilot with seven schools, serves as a director on our board and is thoroughly involved in the execution of this successful program," Frank Woodbeck, chairman of JAG-Nevada, wrote in a letter to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
