Fire that burned acreage in Eureka, White Pine counties is fully contained, officials say

The fire that burned more than 1,900 acres in Eureka and White Pine counties is now fully contained, the Bureau Land Management said in a statement Monday.

The fire was first reported about 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

The statement said the Pinto Fire burned 1,912 acres Eureka and White Pine counties in an area about 15 miles southeast of Eureka. The fire is burned in priority sage grouse habitat, consuming pinion-juniper, brush and grasses.

There was no threat to private property, the release said. The fire’s cause remains unknown.
