Girl, 2, who was shot by brother dies

The 2-year-old girl who was shot by her 4-year-old brother died from her injuries on Sunday, Las Vegas police confirmed today.

The girl was shot in the torso by the brother, who was wielding a loaded handgun he found in the family's home at 1708 Verde Jardin Way, near Jones and Oakey boulevards.

No charges had been filed as of this morning.

The shooting was the second in less than a week in which a child was injured or killed by an unsecured firearm.

A week ago, a 5-year-old autistic child took a handgun in his father's vehicle and shot himself in the face. He died the next day.
