Girl, 8, struck by propeller, killed on Lake Havasu

A family outing at Lake Havasu turned tragic Monday afternoon when an 8-year-old girl was killed in a boating accident.

Sarah Roderick was fatally injured when struck by a propeller of a 24-foot 2000 Premier Pontoon, said Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter.

The family from Cottonwood, Ariz., rented the boat that was traveling at a slow rate of speed when Sarah fell from the bow of the vessel in the South Basin, Carter said.

The girl was pronounced dead after she was transported to the shore about 3:40 p.m.

The girl was wearing a life vest, Carter said.
